It is notified for information of all the concerned that following posts are to be filled up in Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department by direct recruitment from amongst Persons with benchmark disabilities (in different sub categories) for which applications on the prescribed format are invited from the desirous and eligible candidates who are bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh. The applicant should possess minimum 40% permanent disability certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board i.e. District Medical Board or above.

HPPWD Special Recruitment Drive: Qualification
1. Junior Engineer (Civil)
- Should have passed Matriculation Examination from any School/institute situated within Himachal Pradesh. Provided that this condition shall not apply to the Bonafide Himachali.
- Must possess three years regular full time Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering from an Institution/ University duly approved/ recognized by the AICTE/ UGC or AMIE enrolled up to on or before 31.05.2013 from institute of Engineering (India) Calcutta.
2. Junior Engineer (Mechanical)
- Degree/Diploma in the trade of Mechanical/ Automobile/Production/Aeronautical or Marine Engineering of its equivalent from an Institution/ University duly recognized by the Central or State Government.
3. Junior Draughtsman (civil)
- Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized Board of School Education/ University.
- Provided that the candidate must have passed matriculation from any school/institution situated within Himachal Pradesh. Provided further that this condition shall not apply to Bonafide Himachali
- At least two years certificate course in the trade of Draughtsman ship (Civil) or its equivalent from a recognized ITI or from an Institute duly recognized by the Central/H.P. Government.
4. JOA (IT)
- Should have passed 10+2 Examination from a recognized Board of School Education/University.
- Matriculation from recognized Board of School Education with one/ two year Diploma/Certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in information Technology & Information Technology Enabled Sectors (ITES) as notified by Director General of Employment & Training (Govt. of India) from time to time or three years Diploma in Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ IT from a Polytechnic as approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
5. Steno Typist
- Should have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized Board of School Education.
- Provided that the candidate must have passed matriculation and 10+2 from any school/institution situated within Himachal Pradesh.
- Provided further that this condition shall not apply to Bonafide Himachali
- Must possess the following speed in short-hand and typing on computers in both languages i.e. English and Hindi at the time of initial a ointment:-
- Speed in Shorthand:
Hindi: 60 W.P.M
- Speed on Computer:
Hindi: 25 W.P.M
- Provided that at the time of initial recruitment the candidate shall have to pass shorthand test in either of the language i.e. in Hindi or English at the prescribed speed:
- Provided further that the candidates will have to pass typing test in both the languages at the time of initial recruitment.
6. Peon
- Should have passed Matriculation Examination or its equivalent from recognized Board of School Education/ Institution.
- Provided that the candidate must have passed matriculation from any school/ Institution situated within Himachal Pradesh.

7. Chowkidar
- Should be Middle Pass or its equivalent from a recognized Board of School Education/institution.
- Provided that the candidate must have passed middle from any school/ Institution situated within Himachal Pradesh.
- Provided that visually impaired persons who have crossed the age of 35 years, competing under 1% quota reserved for visually impaired persons will be exempted from prescribed educational qualification

HPPWD Special Recruitment Drive: Mode of Selection
Selection for appointment to the post (s) being filled up shall be made on the basis of weightage/merit of evaluation process as mentioned in Table-A above as per the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, HP letter No. SJE- dated 28th August 2017, the date of evaluation/ verification of documents will be intimated separately through post and the same will also be made available on the official Website of the Department; hence, the candidates are advised to visit the Website of the Department during the Third week of February, 2024 for Evaluation Schedule.
